It all began in 2004 when we met while watching our sons play little league
baseball.
The temperature was below average for early June and the two of us were
shivering as we watched the game from the sidelines. Realizing we had something
in common, one of us turned to the other and said, “Wouldn’t
it be great if we could stay warm without having to wrap these cumbersome
blankets around us?” “Absolutely, what do you have in mind?”
And, the brainstorming began!
The next day, we went to a crafts store, bought some material and began
cutting and tying the pieces together in Marla’s kitchen (neither
one of us knew how to sew!) Within hours, we knew we were on to something.
There, on the dining room table, was our very own creation…a fabulous,
oversized, fleece poncho…basically, a blanket you could wear!
Excited with what we had made, we showed it to our friends. The response
was incredible. Everyone loved it and orders were placed on the spot. Before
we knew it, we were in business! A game plan was put in place, seamstresses
were hired, warehouse space was rented and we were on our way.
Today, three years later, we’re so very proud to see how our company
has grown.
The Original Bleacher BlanketR Poncho, still one of our most popular items,
paved the way for the introduction of other fleece poncho products including
a Zip Front Cape and the fashion-forward Single and Double Swing Capes.
In 2007, we expanded our product line once again with the addition of our
new Spirit Collection (which includes a double layered fleece hat, scarf
and Store Your Stuff™ mittens) and our Varsity Dorm Blanket with matching
pillow sham.
It’s hard to believe that a chance meeting at a baseball field would
result in all this!
